UIDAI has collected iris images of residents during enrolment, and successfully leveraged iris modality for de-duplication. As recommended in the previous PoC study on Iris feasibility for authentication (held @ Mysore District between May to July 2012), a new PoC was conducted to study the feasibility of using KIND7 2.5 kb iris images for on-line biometric authentication in the Indian context. We had our Iris Scanner (Model: EPI-1000) part of the study and supported the Aadhaar team in improving the infrastructure to take the system to the next level.
